I am a long time supporter of Richmond Animal League and currently serve on their Board of Directors. Because of my dedication to RAL and their animals, I have been nominated to become a candidate for RAL’s “Best in Show” fundraising competition. As part of this competition, I will be running against other RAL supporters. I am hoping that with your help and donations, I will raise the most money and be named “Best in Show”! All your donations are tax deductible and go to support the ongoing mission of RAL: Saving lives -providing hope, help, and homes for animals in need.
 
Each year I have watched RAL rescue and adopt more and more animals into the community…and into some of your homes! In 2004 RAL brought into the shelter 214 cats, dogs, puppies and kittens and ended the year with 207 adoptions. With the hard work of the staff, 450+ volunteers, Board of Directors and the community, 2008 saw a record breaking year with 808 animals brought into the shelter and 755 adoptions. Now 2009, the 30th anniversary of RAL, we are on the path to breaking the record again. 
This is why I am asking for your help today. The Virginia Department of Agriculture reports that in 2008 there were 83,907 cats and dogs from pounds and shelters euthanized in Virginia ALONE!   In the past 5 years RAL has kept over 2,000 pets from being euthanized for nothing more than being lost or unwanted by their previous owner. You can see that RAL is just beginning to help and with your donation more animals can be saved from unnecessary deaths. Please make a donation to RAL today and help save a pet!
