Description: Since 1968,Youth Enrichment Services (YES) has promoted positive afterschool enrichment programs for urban youth. YES' outdoor and job training programs inspire urban youth to explore, to challenge themselves physically and mentally, and to interact with positive role models.

Mission: YES was started in 1968 by Richard Williams, then with the Vice President's Council on Youth Opportunities, as a response to his desire to inspire young people through outdoor programs. YES works with urban youth between the ages of 8 and 18 to develop values, self-esteem, and leadership skills. YES' outdoor and job training programs helps youth achieve a higher level of education and employment.Specifically, YES Kids learn that:* They can succeed even if they fail at first* There are rewards for being responsible and working hard* They can be helped (and help) people of different racial and economic backgrounds.
