Every year 3-4 million animals are euthanized in shelters across the country. Staff and volunteers in shelters and rescues across the country work tirelessly to rescue and re-home dogs and cats. Rescuing and re-homing unfortunately will not put an end to pet overpopulation. We have to reduce the number of animals entering shelters. Spay and neuter programs are essential to addressing the overpopulation problem. As president of Pet Haven (an all volunteer, foster-based animal rescue and member of the Homes for All Pets Coalition) I am committed to working with other rescues and animal welfare organizations to reducing pet overpopulation. The Pins for Pets ... Bowl for the Fix (www.pinsforpets.org) fundraiser on 8/3 is a collaborative effort to raise funds for Homes for All Pets coalition members' spay/neuter programs. We need your support.
Please join me in our efforts to raise funds which will go directly to spay/neuter programs. The dogs and cats need for us to be a voice for them. Every day thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized. Mister (pictured on left) is one of the lucky ones. Found in a ditch in rural Iowa with 2 of his siblings, he was rescued by a shelter in Spencer, Iowa then transferred to Pet Haven where he eventually ended up finding his forever home with my partner, myself, our lab/pit/rottie mix Missy, and our kitty Henry. I refuse to accept that millions of dogs and cats need to be killed each year. I instead will continue to believe that there will come a day when there will no longer be a need to end the life of a dog or a cat. Join me in holding that image in your heart, and in the viewfinder of your camera... and let's together put an end to pet overpopulation.
Please consider donating today (any amount helps!) - and please forward this to friends, family and colleagues. Together, we can stop the needless killings.
