On Sunday, August 10th, I will be running the 2008 Chicago Distance Classic Half Marathon to raise funds to support Horizons for Youth and its students.

I have committed to raising $800 for Horizons for Youth, the only organization in Chicago offering the unique combination of need-based scholarships, one-on-one mentoring, and enrichment programs for 108 elementary (K - 8th) school students!

I have been working with Horizons' Young Professionals Board since I moved back to Chicago this winter and have found it to be a very inspirational organization.  Some of you have been able to attend fundraisers (ahem, happy hours) hosted by the Young Professionals Board.  Others of you have heard about my role as a Surrogate Big Sibling, stepping in to mentor a K-8 student while his or her "Big Sibling" is unable to make it to a monthly outing. 

So please consider making an online contribution.  Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure.  It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.

Help me go the distance in the half marathon, and help Horizons' students go the distance in their education for years to come.  The alumni stats speak for themselves: 100% high school graduation rate and an 80% college attendance rate.
