I'm honored to be a part of NF's 2009 Ride For NF. I am riding to raise money in support of NF research, awareness, and my daughter, Megan. Megan has lived with Neurofibromatosis all 25 years of her life - but, upon meeting her, most people would never realize that she is affected by something of this nature. NF is disheartening for a number of reasons, mainly due to the great deal of uncertainty associated with the disease. Present from birth, NF causes tumors to form on nerves anywhere in or on the body. However, there is no way of knowing when a tumor might form, and presently, there is no effective treatment or cure. Worse still, while NF affects more people than muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis combined, few people have ever even heard of it. Promoting awareness is hugely important to future research efforts. In the last decade, scientists have learned far more than in the previous century - so every bit of support helps tremendously! Joining me on this adventure are my good friends: Eileen Flaherty Janelle Gorfinkle Deb Luikey Eric Redard Kurt Mungenast Chanda & Dan McKee Many thanks for your support here -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate! With great appreciation, Kate “We must remember that one determined person can make a significant difference, and that a small group of determined people can change the course of history.”
