LUPUS LOOP 5K 2009
Saturday, Sept. 12th ~ Heinz Field/North Shore

YES! It's that time of year again!  TEAM FRANKO is recruiting runners, walkers, skaters, and donors to help fight lupus in Western PA @ the Lupus Loop 5K!

It is vital that everyone (who can) becomes involved this year. On May 5th the PA Senate passed a bill that CUT ALL funding for Lupus programs/services throughout our 62 county service area. If the bill goes forward, almost $115,000 will be lost.

But YOU can help, while having fun! 

$20 gets you:

• entry fee
• gift bag with all sorts of goodies
• long-sleeve shirt
• breakfast snacks/drinks
• lunch from Outback Steakhouse
• a warm & fuzzy feeling!

You can join Team Franko from this page, register for the 5K, create your own fundraising page, or make a donation.  The date is September 12th on the North Shore (near Heinz Field).  Pittsburgh Steeler Willie Colon is our chairman!  His mother Jean suffers from lupus, and Willie has supported the Pittsburgh chapter since the day he was drafted.  In 2008, Willie & Big Ben attended the 5K and mingled with participants/took pics.  View them here.

Other highlights of the day include the singing of the National Anthem by Maddie Georgi, the Mars Area High School cheerleaders, adoptable pups from Animal Friends, and more!

P.S. - How did I forget this?!?!?! This 5K is HUGE with dog lovers!  I'd wager at least 50 pups participate every year :)
