Start Fundraising

Thanks for visiting Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation's fundraising page!

When you support the Ski-A-Thon, you’re helping Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation (formerly Maine Handicapped Skiing) achieve its mission of promoting year-round education and training for individuals with physical disabilities in order to develop skills and provide enjoyment through active recreation. The Ski-A-Thon is the largest single-day fundraiser in Maine, raising over 60% of our annual budget. We couldn’t do it every year without you!

This year our organization is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Our programming has expanded dramatically over the years to include more seasons, more activities, and more participants. We’ve had a great run as Maine Handicapped Skiing, but this year, we’ve taken the bold step to change our name to encompass what we’re now really all about: Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation, or “Maine Adaptive” for short. We think the name will create opportunities to grow even further in terms of programming, events, and volunteer and fundraising opportunities, while keeping adaptive skiing at the core of our mission. We hope you agree, and will help us get the new name out there.

Maine Adaptive is the largest year-round adaptive recreation program in the state of Maine. Over 400 volunteers assist our athletes with over 5000 free lessons in summer and winter, free of charge. The support of businesses, corporations, foundations, and you makes this possible.

Our Veterans/No Boundaries program provides winter and summer sports lessons to veterans with physical disabilities.

Maine Adaptive offers winter lessons at:

  • Sunday River Resort
  • Sugarloaf
  • Saddleback
  • Black Mountain of Maine
  • Camden Snow Bowl
  • Sunday River Outdoor Center
  • Pineland Farms

 Maine Adaptive summer programming includes:

  • Cycling at Back Cove in Portland
  • Golf at Woodlands Golf Club in Falmouth, Toddy Brook Golf Course in North Yarmouth, Martindale Golf Course in Auburn, Bethel Inn Resort in Bethel, and Maple Lane Golf Course in Livermore
  • Paddling in Acadia National Park, Range Ponds State Park in Poland, the Androscoggin River in Bethel and Errol, NH, and sea kayaking on the midcoast
  • Fishing at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Rangeley Lake, and Casco Bay

Thank you for your support, and best of luck reaching your fundraising goals!
