Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for participating in the 2008 US Transplant Games representing Upstate New York which will take place in Pittsburgh, PA, this July.
The Transplant Games celebrate the success of organ transplantation -- those recent as well as those transplanted decades ago. This athletic competition is open to any man, woman, or child who has received a life-saving organ transplant, including kidney, lung, heart, liver, pancreas, or bone marrow. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded in a dozen sports, including: GOLF, tennis, track and field, swimmning, bowling, racquetball, basketball, volleyball, cycling, running, badminton, and table tennis.
The goals of the Transplant Games are to recognize and pay tribute to the more than 4,000 families who donate the organs and tissues of their family members each year, as well as showcase the success of transplantation while calling attention to the critical need for more organ donors in the US.
This year there is an expected 2,000 athletes competing from all 50 states!
I'm sure all of you remember that I received a kidney in January, 2006. This is the first year I am elgible to participate and I have heard from others who have attended what a remarkable event this is. I am excited to share this event with my family, and welcome every opportunity to GOLF!
There are approximately 25 recipients from the Rochester area representing our Upstate New York team. All monies raised through this fundraising page does not pay for MY trip to Pittsburgh, but for the whole team to attend the games.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
