HELP ME RAISE MONEY FOR HOWARD DENTAL
As you may know, this past spring I was laid off from my job. At that time I had already planned on running a half marathon in June. As the days and weeks wore on without any job in sight, I decided to take advantage of my time off and check something off of my life's list of things to do. So, on July 26, I will be running all 26.2 hilly miles of the San Francisco Marathon!
Although I haven't been very good at raising funds for myself since being laid off, I thought running the SF Marathon would be a great way to raise funds for a nonprofit organization in which I strongly believe. Howard Dental Center is a nationally-recognized provider of comprehensive and integrated oral health care to people living with HIV/AIDS. For patients who are HIV+, regular oral health appointments can make a huge difference. Many times, Howard Dental is able to prevent a patient from moving to an AIDS diagnosis through a simple oral examination.
I have been a member of Howard Dental's board of directors for over a year now, and I can say with conviction that it truly is an important and outstanding organization providing critical services to people afflicted with a devastating disease. I'm very proud to be a part of Howard Dental and of the quality and efficiency of its work. Howard Dental provided services to over 450 patients last year. For every $1 donated to the organization, Howard Dental produces $1.13 in dental services.
Although my training for the SF Marathon will take 16 weeks to complete, and I will need to log several hundred long, sweaty miles in the process, I'm doing it gladly knowing that it will help Howard Dental continue to fulfill its mission.
Please support me and my effort to raise money for Howard Dental by donating today.
Many thanks for your support!
Mike
