Hi everyone!

As most of you know, I ran a marathon last year on behalf of the American Cancer Society. I can't thank you enough for all of your support.  It was such a moving experience I decided to run again for a cause. 

So, along with my fundraising efforts, I have chosen to run a half marathon in Sydney, Australia for an organization called "Organs R Us."  It is an organization that promotes  the need for organ donors. I was inspired by an ultramarathon runner named Dean Karnazes (http://www.ultramarathonman.com/flash/) whom I met while running a relay.  I was part of a team of 12 that ran from Calistoga to Santa Cruz. He ran the entire race by HIMSELF - that's 199 miles!  His goal was to bring attention to the needs of a little girl named Katalina Thang who was in need of a heart and both lungs. With his help, she became the first in the country to receive a double heart-lung transplant after waiting nearly 2 years.

Seeing the direct results of his efforts have compelled me to try and make a difference. I am hoping my efforts will make some small contribution towards helping those in need of organs.  Whether it is from the donations of my friends and family, or through awareness that inspires others to become a donor, I am honored to participate in this cause.
