Mt. Rainier

Mission Pact, more commonly known as "MPACT," is a unique Christian charity that is dedicated to relieving human suffering in small but specific ways.  Relief, such as providing personal hygiene products for the poor and needy around the world, not only contributes to the elimination of preventable disease, provides dignity, and gives an opportunity for cleanliness in harsh conditions.

Many of the products provided by MPACT are simple items you and I take for granted every day…things like soap, shampoo, and toothpaste.  They seem simple, but these items greatly reduce disease and death in many countries where diarrhea remains the largest cause of death among children under the age of 5 years old.  Simple procedures like washing hands and cleaning cooking utensils greatly reduce the spread of preventable disease.  It may seem crazy, but giving a nursing mother the opportunity to bathe could mean life or death for her infant in many countries around the world.

Likewise, these products impact the overall health and the quality of the lives of those who gratefully receive them.  MPACT has partnered with other relief organizations, like World Vision, to insure that these goods get through to the people who need them the most. Without our combined efforts and, more importantly, your help, these people would have to do without.

With that being said, we are excited to share with you about one of our fundraising events coming up on August 21-24, 2012!  A team has been put together and is currently training to climb to the summit of Mt. Rainier!

Mount Rainier is located 54 miles southeast of Seattle. It has a summit elevation of 14,411 feet (4,392 m).  In fact, it is the third highest mountain in the continental United States!  According to the National Parks Service, 10,643 people attempted to summit Mt. Rainier in 2010…only 4,920 actually reached the summit.  Our summit attempt will be no easy mission!

This will also be a special event because we will have friends and family participating together.  Klay and Kris Maynard are a part of the founders of MPACT and will be climbing together with close friend, Mark Landers.  Kris and Mark both reside in Atlanta, GA while Klay is the Director of MPACT.  Besides Mark, Klay and Kris have teamed up with good friends Brian Mycroft, Rob Shoaff, Keith Stevens, and Chris Osborn.  Brian and Rob have been friends since their college days at Kentucky Christian University and Rob is the Lead Minister of the church where Brian, Keith, and Chris Osborn are all active members.  Chris Osborn is the Assistant Director of Butler Springs Christian Camp in Hillsboro, Ohio and joining him on the team are his college friends Brian Elkins and Zac Combs, also KCU alumni.

We're asking for your much needed funding for this event which seeks to free more men, women, children…entire communities, from the spread of preventable disease.  We would ask that you please submit your donations through this link.

If you are not familiar with MPACT or would like to read more about us, please visit our web-site at: www.missionpact.org.  There you can find details of the charity's operations.

To those who have contributed in the past, THANK YOU very much for your support!!!  Because of YOUR generous donations, MPACT has grown steadily over the years and has helped countless people in the process.

Again, many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
