NAA NY-Metro is very proud of the educational meetings, support groups, NAAvigator parent mentoring, workshops, website, blog and other services and events that we provide to the autism community.  Last year we raised more than $50,000! Thank you so much for supporting us!

We used these funds primarily for a Helping Hand Grant program and a Summer Program for the last two weeks of August. Helping Hand Grants are $500 grants for needy families affected by autism to help with unreimbursed medical and therapy costs. We were able to award 20 Helping Hands grants this year!

The Summer Program in August was created in response to feedback we got from our community – many ASD children attend 12-month school programs and are off for the last two weeks of August with nothing to do. The Summer Program provides a fun experience for these children that is like the kind of thing widely available to their typically developing peers. We were able to provide this program to 38 children at a cost of only $50 per child for the whole week. The families were very happy with the program and we are excited to be able to offer it again this year. We hope to expand both programs to help more children and families and will use money raised this year for these purposes.
