The mission of NAA-NY Metro is to educate, support and empower those in the autism community in the New York Metro area. We are also committed to increasing awareness about autism to ensure that our children are safe, and are protected against discrimination; and to recognize this as a societal concern so that we are prepared to deal with the epidemic. We will never give up the search to help those affected by autism spectrum disorders reach their full potential. <p> Our programs providing direct help to families affected by autism include: * NAAvigators, our free parent mentoring program; *Monthly Educational Presentations, featuring professionals treating ASD in a wide variety of fields; *Monthly Parent Network Exchange Meetings, topic-driven, interactive meetings led by a knowledgeable professional or parent; *Monthly support group, moderated by a psychologist well-versed in special needs; *A growing resource directory; *Helping Hand Grants to assist families with therapy costs; *Summer Program in August for a nominal charge; and *Legislative and media advocacy
