Help NAMI support people with mental illness and their families by supporting our inaugural NAMI-CC Wellness Walk/Kids’ Run. The Walk will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Miami Meadows Park in Milford. Registration starts at 8:30. Kick-off is 9:30. The Walk is our major fundraiser, so your help is crucial.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Clermont County is a volunteer-based support, education, and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals and family members who are impacted by mental illnesses/brain disorders.
NAMI has a unique role in reaching out to families who don’t know where to turn for help. We offer support to let them know they are not alone and education so they can understand that their loved one’s illness is a biologically-based brain disorder. We also show them how to be advocates so their loved one will have the best access to care and recovery.
Besides the personal toll on families, mental illness is one of today’s most serious public health problems. It is a factor in nine of ten suicides. It costs American employers tens of billions of dollars annually in lost employee productivity and health care expenses.
Worth Magazine recently ranked NAMI in its “top 100 charities most likely to change the world”.
NAMI meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month to hear local speakers, get answers to questions, share stories and find support. The featured presentation begins at 7:30 PM.
