Life is good® is on a mission to spread much-needed good vibes nationwide in 2009. The fun and fundraising begins on May 16th at the Life is good Festival at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park.
The day begins at 11AM with a high-energy fundraising walk, called the Good Walk for Kids, a 3K family-friendly route with surprises, color and music along the way. Registration begins at 10AM so show up early enough to register, grab your fine tee, and get ready to roll.
Your heart will be joyful knowing that when you walk you are making a world of difference for many of the Bay Area's most vulnerable children. Now more than ever, a growing number of children who have been hurt by violence, poverty, and loss need our help. All funds raised will allow Project Joy, an exceptional nonprofit, to bring its healing play to Bay Area kids in need. For more info on Project Joy, visit www.pjkids.org

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE FESTIVAL FUN
Want a bigger sample of the good vibes to be had at our first big West Coast Fest? Check out this sweet lineup:
ALO
Childhood friends turned college classmates at the UC, Santa Barbara, ALO formed and found their musical roots in California. The band of four have recorded five albums and toured with collegiate cohort Jack Johnson – who also signed them to his label Brushfire Records – and Dave Matthews Band.
Martin Sexton
An east coast native, Martin Sexton found his inspiration in classic rock and roll. Having released numerous albums beginning in 1996 Sexton launched his own label, KTR, in 2002. His diverse sound infiltrates many musical genres and his songs have been featured in film and television.
The Sippy Cups
Founded by the parents of pre-schoolers, The Sippy Cup’s music is inspired, and sometimes composed, by their children. Working for the California school system by day, The Sippy Cups encourage parents to make music with their kids, teach school groups how to resolve conflicts non-violently, and educate and entertain school children about the wonders of the environment.
While the music plays, Speedway Meadow will become a big community playground all day with dozens of classic backyard games and activities, divided into several “villages:”
· Jaketown features familiar games aplenty, including football, lacrosse, speed pitch, soccer kick, Frisbee toss, basketball, tug-o’-war, volleyball, and much more.
· Chillville is the perfect cool-down spot between physical activities, showcasing arts and crafts, face painting, and an entertaining kids’ stage.
· The Joy Zone features cooperative kids’ games hosted by Project Joy, including its amazing multi-colored 50-foot parachute.
