Can't make it to one of our Great Steps for NF Walks? Create your own Fantasy Walk!

The idea is to raise NF awareness and raise funds for the cause in the same ways as a team for a regular walk. You may hold events and/or simply send out requests for donations. But the journey or walk is yours to create, and during your Fantasy Walk you keep your contacts entertained, informed and even guessing as to where you are actually going. This may include who you are meeting and what you are doing.

Here's a sample letter to give you an idea of how it works:

Dear Friends,

As some of you may know, I have a personal interest in supporting Neurofibromatosis Midwest. Neurofibromatosis (NF)  is a genetic disorder that can cause tumors to grow anywhere in the body at any time. It also can cause a host of other difficulties. You may learn more about it at nfnetwork.org.

My friend’s 6 year old daughter,  Ella, has this chronic, progressive disorder. Currently, she has an optical tumor and has lost sight in one eye and has learning disabilities which are very common in NF. Already having endured many rounds of chemo in her young life, she still has a life of uncertainly in front of her.

To help raise money and awareness for the NF cause I am creating my own Fantasy Walk. I ask you to join me on my crazy journey by donating to this worthy cause in my name and in honor of Ella.

I’ve chosen to start my walk in Arcola, IL. Since it’s near where Ella lives and because not only is it the birthplace of the creator of Raggedy Ann and Andy (does everyone know who they are anymore?), but it is also the home of the “One and Only Hippie Memorial”. Check it out.  Hard to resist since I am an old hippie named Andy.
