Our goals are to improve the quality of physical therapy (PT) care and raise the standards of PT practice in Nicaragua. We hope to achieve these goals by:
1. Providing an in-depth course on updated examination techniques, combining classroom instruction with hands-on patient treatment.
2. Emphasizing problem solving, creativity, and hands-on learning to foster independent and critical thinking skills.
3. Focusing instruction toward the Professors of PT within the Instituto Politecnico de la Salud (POLISAL), the only University in Nicaragua that trains and educates PTs.
Additional teaching opportunities are available within hospitals in Managua, Masaya, Leon, and Chinandega, as well as with Walking Unidos, a prosthetics and orthotics clinic, and Los Pepitos, a pediatric clinic that provides rehabilitation services to disabled children and young adults to age twenty-one. The latter two clinics are located in Leon, Nicaragua.
As the financial burden for this trip lies solely with the volunteers, donations of ANY (and we mean ANY) amount are welcome; it all adds up! Thank you in advance for your support!
