After a steep rise from $0 to $20k/yr, the additional happiness that more money (stuff) provides levels off very quickly.
I don't need any more stuff. Seriously.
But Angkor Hospital for Children (an incredible organizationl in Cambodia that Michelle and I have spent a lot of time with) sees patients for an average cost of $18 - many of these visits are the difference between life and death. And, as a teaching hospital, AHC is helping to rebuild a health care system in a country stripped by the genocide of the Khmer Rouge. Folks from the Clinton Global Initiative have described AHC as the best pediatric hospital they've seen in any of the countries they work in.
Thank you for giving me what I really want for my birthday: the gift of life to countless children, the gift of health care to a country desperately in need.
