Thank you for visiting and taking the time to learn how Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) gave my son, Zeke, a chance at life. The fantastic care for our entire family motivated me to join the Miracles In Motion team for the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation. As a team member, I have committed to raising money while training and running the Phoenix Rock 'n Roll Marathon on January 13, 2007. With your sponsorship, PCH can help more children thrive.

In June of 2006, Zeke was born 11 weeks premature. He was unable to breathe or suckle milk on his own. When he was finally able to suckle, we learned that with each swallow some of the milk was entering his lungs--something he finally outgrew at 6 months old. He needed a great deal of medical care to survive during the 7 weeks and 5 days he spent in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at PCH. Even after we were able to welcome him home, we still spent time at the hospital for tests and appointments with his team of doctors and nutritionists.

As a parent, you feel such a loss of control and helplessness when your child is hospitalized. The staff at PCH knew that they weren't just caring for Zeke, but for our family as a whole. They helped us learn what we could do for Zeke during his NICU stay and gave us the confidence we needed to manage his special needs when he came home.

While in the NICU, I got in the habit of calling Zeke "Small Fry." Because of the wonderful care he received, Zeke grew to over 24 pounds and the picture of health by his first birthday. His moniker is now "Not-So-Small Fry." I decided to participate in Miracles in Motion in honor of Zeke, but I cannot help but think of all the other small fries and their parents within the walls of the NICU--over 1500 babies each year. Miracles in Motion will raise vital funds for Phoenix Children’s Hospital that will help more children grow into their full, healthy potential.

Each participant is required to raise $1,500, but it would be a great blessing if I could exceed that amount. Your tax deductible donation allows PCH to provide specialized care to Arizona’s most ill and injured children. Every dollar counts, so please give whatever amount you can. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the team's fund raising efforts.
