The Annual 5K Run/Walk for The Arc of East Middlesex
The Arc of East Middlesex's (EMARC) 14th Annual 5K, is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2008. The Run for The Arc of East Middlesex kicks off Melrose’s Annual Victorian Fair, which attracts over 14,000 visitors. The event starts with a ½ mile Kids Run at 10:15 a.m., followed by the 5K at 10:30 a.m. Walkers are welcome. Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan will serve as Honorary Chairman of the Race. Special thanks to Brian Slater, Race Director, to our hosts, the Melrose Family YMCA and to our Melrose Running Club Volunteers!
Proceeds from the Run benefit The Arc of East Middlesex’s recreation programs for children and adults with disabilities.
$18 to Register for the Run/Walk through September 5 and $20 thereafter. Kids Run to Register $5. Online registration accepted thru September 11th at Noon. Then Race Day registration at the Melrose YMCA. 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
The Arc of East Middlesex (EMARC) is a nonprofit organization which assists children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Founded in 1954, they annually help 700 people from over a dozen Middlesex and Essex County communities with services including Residential Supports; Vocational Training; community Job Placement; the Center for Emerging Artists; School to Work Transition Services and the Journey to Independence; a Family Resource Center; and a large Recreation Program. The Arc of East Middlesex has received three consecutive certifications of Two Years with Distinction, the highest ranking given by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation.
