Following a front-page Wall Street Journal article on Friday, Nov. 28, revealing the plight of the five residents of our Highland small-group home, WSJ readers and their friends across the country are contacting us to find out how they can help. We appreciate this response, and we have postponed the residents' move for one week to explore developing options.

Our 36-year-old nonprofit agency provides supportive housing, training, jobs, and socialization for more than 600 individuals on an ongoing basis. The State of Illinois owes us approximately $1.4 million for services rendered as far back as May. We have depleted our $1.5 million line of credit and are paying more than $2,000 of interest per month, just to keep our agency doors open.
