BOMA SPS Chapter – let’s help break the cycle of child abuse!

This year we have adopted the non-profit “Olive Crest” to raise funds and gifts for foster families and children in Pierce County.  As a partner with Olive Crest, you help break the cycle of child abuse and enable at-risk youth and families to become healthy, productive citizens in our community.

This holiday season, BOMA SPS members will be sponsoring four Olive Crest foster families in Pierce County.  Here are their stories:

The Abril Family (Team A)

After the biological mother developed cancer and was unable to care for her five children – Junior (age 2), Mailk (age 4), Kiki (age 6), DeAaron (age 9), and De’Nysha (age 14), the children came into Olive Crest’s care.  Neglect was the primary reason why these children were removed from the home and placed into Olive Crest’s foster care program.

The Wilson Family (Team B)

Shane, age 13, came into Olive Crest’s care because he and his mother were experiencing homelessness.  Shane’s mother will soon be in transitional housing and is working with Olive Crest to successfully be reunited with her son.

The Kim Family (Team C)

Jamie is 15 years old and came into Olive Crest’s care because her mother was a domestic violence victim and was hospitalized.

The Bell Family (Team D)

AJ (age 9) and Brianna (age 14) came into Olive Crest’s care because their single mother fell ill and needed ongoing medical attention, thus, neglecting the needs of her two children.

Our goal is to raise $1,000 (or more) per team.  Please create a fundraising page under your team name and send out the link to your friends and family encouraging support for the cause.  If you have questions related to the mission of Olive Crest, please contact Cara Rudd at 425.462.1612 ext. 1356 or cara-rudd@olivecrest.org.

Since 1973, Olive Crest has transformed the lives of over 50,000 abused, neglected, and at-risk children and their families. We work tirelessly to meet the individual needs of kids in crisis by providing safe homes, counseling, and education for both youth and parents. Our many innovative programs reflect our conviction that strengthening the family is one of the most powerful ways to help heal children. With unwavering compassion, the Olive Crest family maintains a lifelong commitment to the youth and families we serve even after they have graduated from our programs.

Olive Crest serves nearly 1,000 children and families each day throughout California, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest. For information call 1-800-550-CHILD (2445) or visit www.olivecrest.org.
