Check for updates below this opening message.-----------------------------------------------------------------Chris Lane here, and I've decided to run my first marathon (26.2 miles) on April 15, 2007 in St. Louis to raise money for one of my favorite local charities, Our Lady's Inn, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary!Our Lady's Inn is a labor of love, providing emergency shelter to pregnant women in crisis and helping them to choose life for their unborn child. Founded on January 22, 1982, OLI is a safe refuge where a woman can learn how to care for herself and her unborn baby.We need your help! As the miles pile on during my training, your help will let me know that I am running for those mothers and their children. This is your chance to give them a chance and to keep me going strong!Donating through this site is fast and easy--just click "Sponsor Me Now"! Or, if you'd prefer to send a check, just email me at marathon.30.alias123@spamgourmet.com, and I'll let you know where to send it. Many thanks!Chris-------------------------------------------------------UPDATES (most recent to least recent)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~15 April AD 2007I have fought the good fight! I have run the race! Yes, folks, I made it to the end, with a time of 4:12:45. More details to come!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~26 March AD 2007Thanks to your prayers and donations, we've gotten over the $1000 mark! Not too shabby, I must say! Today, I finally reached the high water mark of my training, a 20-mile run! Despite the primal grunts and cries of agony that issued from the depths of my being during the last three miles, it feels great to have gotten this far. For the next three weeks, I get to do shorter and shorter runs, so that my body can be well-recovered for the big day, April 15. (Let's hope it really works that way!)
Since we'd love to reach our fundraising target to help the mothers and children at Our Lady's Inn, please tell your friends, family, and other acquaintances about my page!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~6 March AD 2007Thanks again for your prayers and donations--as of today, we've reached the 25% mark on our goal! As for me, I ran 16 miles on Sunday. That's pretty close to the high water mark in my training, 20 miles, which I'll run two or three weeks before the actual 26.2-mile race.Please tell anyone who might be interested about my page--as you can see, we need almost $1500 more to reach our goal. Many thanks! -Chris~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~18 February AD 2007Thanks for prayers and donations so far! In about one day, we're past 10 % already! In other notes, I ran 14 miles this morning--my first time ever breaking the half-marathon (13.2) mark! Many thanks!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~17 February AD 2007Many thanks to the A-Team--AJ, Anthony, and Anonymous--for kicking this off with the first donations to Our Lady's Inn!
