Dear Friends,
USAID and UNAIDS estimated that in 2005 there were 380,000 HIV/AIDS orphans in Thailand--that’s 35% of all orphaned children in the country. Thailand has the highest number of AIDS orphans in all of Southeast Asia.
The goal of this Heart Touch initiative is to introduce infant massage into four facilities in Thailand that care for orphans infected with HIV/AIDS. Our team of twelve volunteers will travel there in November 2006 to provide massage to AIDS orphans and, more importantly, to teach infant massage to their caregivers. A longer term goal of the project is to explore ways to expand and sustain infant massage practices in these and other facilities in Thailand.
