My personal message:

Join me as I raise money to save Philadelphia's homeless, abandoned and orphaned animals at the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). Receiving nearly 30,000 homeless, abandoned, and orphaned animals each year and seeing the highest volume of unwanted and unloved animals in the region, PAWS is working to end the killing of healthy and treatable pets in the City of Philadelphia.

On Saturday, October 25, I will participate in the PAWS Mutt Strut, which will bring 1,000 animal lovers and their pets together for a 1.5-mile walk through FDR Park. We will raise badly needed funds for PAWS’ lifesaving programs including adoption outreach, spay/neuter clinics, and low-cost vaccination services. We will also raise awareness of the harsh reality that thousands of healthy and treatable animals are killed in Philadelphia each year, simply because they do not have homes.

The Mutt Strut will offer us a day of companionship and celebration, and will enable PAWS to give countless more animals the chance to experience that companionship and safety for themselves. Please give whatever you can, and consider joining me on October 25!

A note from Chance:

Dear PAWS,

I'm writing from my 'new' home to let you know how happy I am here. My family adopted me exactly one year ago. I was known as Beanpole at PAWS but they call me Chance now. I'm a 2 year old pit bull who was rescued from the streets of Philadelphia where I was starved and mistreated. When my mommy met me she cried, my ear has a large chunk taken out of it, I have battle wounds all over my body, but my mommy and the people at PAWS saw beyond my physical appearance.

My heroes at PAWS saved my life and made me well again. If it were not for PAWS I would not be here with my family today.  A few volunteers even cooked real people food for me! My family loves me so much...but who could blame them? I'm such a pleasure to have. I have good manners, am house broken, don't chew anything I'm not supposed too, etc.,etc. (Did I mention how handsome I am?) Since my Mom isn't a very good cook (don't tell her I said so..she'd be so hurt!) I've learned to eat dog food. Although, she does occasionally cook something special just for me!

I'm a very good watch dog too. When I'm not guarding my family by looking out the front window, I am constantly chasing squirrels and bunny rabbits out of our back yard! All in all, I don't know WHAT my family would do without me. I'm pretty fortunate too. They love me very much, buy me yummy treats and dog toys and give me the best belly rubs. I am one happy dog!

Thank you everyone at the shelter for all the love, care and attention you shower on all of us...'unwanted' animals. I hope my Mom will bring me in for a visit with my old friends real soon! I'd love to see all of you.

With love and gratitude, Chance Innaurato

I am proud that MY tax dollars are representing a shelter who cares for all types of animals, especially Pit Bulls.
