A great deal of social change and peace work is sourced from a very polarized position of knowing, self-righteousness, and anger. The work of the Peacemaker Community and Peacemaker Institute is grounded in the Three Tenets of the Peacemaker Community: 1) Not Knowing--letting go of fixed ideas about ourselves, others and the world; 2) Bearing Witness--experiencing directly the joys and sufferings for the world; and 3) Compassionate Action--brining healing to ourselves, others, the earth and all beings. Social change efforts and peacework that come from a place of Not Knowing and Bearing Witness quite naturally arise as Compassionate Action--actions that are appropriate to what is, that honor all involved, and that are sustainable. The Peacemaker Community promotes engaged spirituality and contemplative social action, spirit-centered and spiritually grounded approaches to peacemaking and social change. the Peacemaker Community is not a religious organization. Instead it supports people all faiths as well as those following secular traditions or paths in their efforts to create a just, peaceful and sustainable global society.
