HI,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!  Many of you know that I fundraise for a lot of different causes...however, this cause is near and dear to my heart. Money raised for FORCE- Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered, will ensure that there is support for families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 times by the age of 35. There was no history of breast cancer in my family.  However, when I tested for the breast cancer gene mutation, my test results came out positive for BRCA 2. My sister Erin tested positive also. Luckily, my youngest sister Melanie tested negative.

The photo you see is of me with my 15 year-old daughter Sedona. She has a 50/50 chance of inheriting this dreaded gene mutation. Those with this mutation have up to an 87% risk of breast cancer in their lifetime.

This is where FORCE comes in. Because of the support of FORCE, my sister and I were able to make informed decisions about our health. I had my remaining breast removed last summer and my sister had both breasts removed last November. This now drops her chances of getting Breast Cancer from an 87% risk in her lifetime, to below that of the National average (1 in 8 women).

When it comes time for Sedona to make the decision about testing ( in about 8 years from now), I want to know that FORCE will be there for her. I want her to have the information Erin and I had about the gene mutation. I want her to have a community (message board) where she can talk to other young women about making the decision to test or not.  And If she tests, and tests positive, I want her to know about the latest surgeries being performed by the best surgeons out there. Most importantly- I want her to have the chance of being a part of an informed community of others like her, in high-risk families for breast and ovarian cancer!

Please help me to ensure that FORCE will be there for Sedona and all the others like her. Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated! Give up that Starbucks coffee for one day a week for a month and donate $10 to FORCE. Have a garage sale to get rid of all that excess stuff that has been laying around your house and donate the proceeds to FORCE. Have a BUNCO tournament and donate the money raised to FORCE (I will even send you some awesome pink ribbon Martini/ Bunco pins).  Or- just click and donate whatever you can right now. I have my goal set high, at $20,000. Please help me to reach this goal!
