Thank you for visiting the Pip's Team fundraising page! Pip's Team was founded by the family of Phillip "Pip" Opstad: Neil & Linda Opstad, Bill & Peggy Farmer, Tom & Marit Brock, and Charley & Amy Opstad. Pip's nephews and nieces are pictured here at the 2008 Walk for Mental Health and although they never got the chance to meet him, they know that we walk each year in honor of Uncle Pip!
Pip died by suicide in August, 2001 and his death came as a terrible shock to all of us. We have joined together as Pip's Team to do what we can to prevent other families from having to endure the pain of a loved one's death by suicide.
It is hard to imagine how we have managed to get along without Pip's gentle spirit for all of these years. The goal of Pip's Team is to remember Pip and help a good cause in memory of his thoughtfulness and compassion. We also walk in memory of David Brock, Tom's older brother who died by suicide at the age of 24.
Join SAVE as we come together for a three- mile walk to raise awareness about mental illness and educate the community about suicide prevention. Books, t-shirts, snacks and other items will be available for sale. For more information call 952-946-7998 or email save@save.org
Saturday, August 15, 2009 Lake Harriet Bandshell, Minneapolis, MN
Registration begins at 8am, the Walk at 9:30am. Pip's Team will have a table/meeting place with coffee and snacks beginning at around 8:30 am.
Please join Pip's Team on August 15th - but if you are not able to walk, please consider making a contribution. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
