**BIG UPDATE**
All donations made between Nov 10-20, 2009 will be matched dollar for dollar! Now is definitely the time to give if you've ever even considered supporting these girls. Please lend your support now!
“One Home Many Hopes” is a loving home for orphaned and abandoned girls in Mtwapa, Kenya. Known in Kenya as “Mudzini Kwetu”, OHMH finds, rescues, houses, loves and educates former street children and equips them to be the future agents of change in their community. Our philosophy is that investing in education and family support for children is the most effective way of ending cyclical poverty.
Many of you know that I visited the girls back in May with a small group of volunteers and I fell in love with these girls. The stories of these girls and the love they share for one another touched me deeply and I'm committed to remaining a part of their lives and seeing them through college. So here I am, co-leading the 2009 Breaking Ground fundraising campaign -- from Lesotho!
This year, One Home Many Hopes is breaking ground -- for a new home and a better future for 32 girls in Kenya. Right now, the girls and their house mothers are crammed into a 4-bedroom house, with the littlest ones sleeping four to a bunk bed made for two. They need more room to sleep, to study and to play.
But this is not just about a building, it’s about a home that will nurture these girls so that one day, they can do groundbreaking things for their country. These girls will be the doctors, lawyers and humanitarians that will ensure girls of the future will not need rescuing. Please help however you can -- maybe you can give a little (even just $10 or $20 helps) or perhaps you'll join my fundraising team to help me meet my target of $2,500. Click here to join my team! My team name is "Malapeng" -- the Sesotho word for home, or literally, the place of family. One Home Many Hopes has already given these 32 girls a loving family -- now, they just need the home building!
Please visit the Breaking Ground campaign website for more ideas on you can get involved. Thanks!
