In January 2008, a group of 7 people from the Portage church traveled to Haiti and the Dominican Republic on the
island of
Hispaniola. While there, the trip participants were involved with the work of International Child Care (ICC). Volunteers from
Portage
First
United
Methodist
Church worked with local children at ICC’s Grace Children’s Hospital (GCH), the
Grace
School and neighboring orphanages.
ICC is a Christian health development organization committed to serving children and families in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Through Grace Children’s Hospital and urban and rural community health development programs, ICC provides health care throughout both of these island nations. For over 40 years, ICC has been dedicated to bringing health and wholeness to children and families in empowered communities.
Local cinematographer Noah Wood captured this ten-day journey on film which has been edited into a one hour documentary. This unique film documentary captures the inspiring story of one man’s journey in Haiti and the Dominican Republic as he learns that fathers - world-wide - face the same challenges and concerns for their loved ones
.
In hopes that others will have the opportunity to experience God at work in Haiti and the Dominican Republic through this documentary, the film will be shown FREE of charge.
Please consider making a donation to International Child Care to help underwrite the cost of the film and theater. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of children and families in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
