Our hope for girls…that they realize their dreams, engage their communities and shape a better world.

For 14 years, Powerful Voices has been providing youth development programs to adolescent girls in Seattle and King County. We rely on the generosity of our donors and the community to raise awareness about issues impacting girls and the funds necessary for providing free, innovative, evidence-based programs to adolescent girls in Seattle public schools and in and out of the KingCounty juvenile justice system.

Powerful Voices impacts girls during adolescence – an often difficult passage from childhood to adulthood even for those with a strong safety net of support. Adolescent girls experience rapid physical, emotional and intellectual changes. They form ideas about what it means to be a woman, define their values, identify what interests they want to develop and decide which skills they have to share. Yet many girls face adolescence without the resources and support that they need to become strong women. Our programs work because we listen intently to the girls we serve. We also know that support from adults-family, guardians, mentors and friends, can help girls grow into strong women.

Your hope for girls…

Today, you can also give a powerful message to a girl in our program by giving a gift of hope to Powerful Voices. Your gift is vital to our plans for enhancing and expanding our program reach to serve hundreds of girls in Seattle King County in 2010.

Powerful Voices will send donors who give over $25 a copy of the zine created by our 2009 DYVAS (Develop Your Voice and Speak) summer youth employment program girls titled "Different Minds".

As we celebrate another year of innovation and all-girl programs, we’re inviting you to also share your personal Message of Hope with our girls along with your gift.
