Public Space One, Iowa City's non-profit community arts space is expanding, and we need your help! We have had a very successful first year focusing on the performing arts, and now we are expanding to create a gallery space for the visual arts. We've been able to get volunteers to handle most of our labor needs, but we still have to pay for raw materials and for some subcontractors for specialized projects.
Starting in January, we will begin work on renovating previously unusable space into Iowa City's newest gallery, with a focus on amateur, emerging, and avant-garde artists. We not only provide an accessible forum for artists with no other place to show their work, but we have a dedicated volunteer staff working to bring in some of the country's most talented emerging artists.
In addition, we are renovating our performance space. This will include badly needed new flooring, a new stage, new lighting to better accommodate theater productions, and a projector so we can start a new film series.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. Also, every dollar raised in December will be met with a 50% matching donation, ie if we raise $1,000 we'll get an additional matching donation of $500. If you prefer, you can also make out checks to the James Gang, and send them to us at PO Box 10083, Iowa City, IA, 52240.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Public Space One, like all James Gang endeavors, is a non-profit operation intended to serve the community. It is run by volunteers and solely supported through the generous support of community members like yourself. For more information on the project, check out our website at www.publicspaceone.org or email Zach@thejamesgang.ws.
