Pine Tree Society's Upcoming Event:
2014 Dysart's Snowmobile Ride-in to benefit Pine Tree Camp
January 31, 2014 - February 2, 2014
The Snowmobile Ride-in to benefit Pine Tree Camp began in 1974 with a handful of snowmobile clubs riding into Newport for a weekend of events to support Pine Tree Camp, a summer camp for Maine children and adults with disabilities. Over the years, the event has grown into a weekend that attracts hundreds of snowmobilers from all corners of Maine as well as the greater Newport community. Over the past 40 years, the event has raised $4 million, translating into thousands of lives transformed by the Pine Tree Camp experience. 2013 was a record breaking year, raising more than $100,000. In 2014 we want to surpass this goal to help provide more life-changing experiences at Pine Tree Camp, but we need your help.
The event will take place Jan. 31 – Feb. 2 in Newport. The weekend will feature all of the events that participants have come to love – community breakfasts and dinners, an auction, radar runs, a pageant and the famous Q106.5 Celebrity Egg Ride – and some new ones that are sure to be exciting. We are thrilled to welcome back the RaveX Outer Limits Freestyle Traveling Show. The performance will feature freestyle snowmobilers showcasing an acrobatic and dare-devil performance. We anticipate the RaveX show will draw hundreds of additional people from all over Maine. Additionally, the event will also welcome new events including the children’s ice fishing clinic.
The impact of your support
Every summer, more than 650 Maine children and adults with disabilities arrive at Pine Tree Camp and their lives are transformed. Driving down the camp road, campers enter a world that is barrier-free, leaving behind the confines of their disability thanks to our 285-acre fully-accessible campus, committed and well-trained staff and peer support. At Pine Tree Camp, campers make friends for the first time; friends who understand what they are going through. Campers actively participate in all the activities for which Maine is famous – kayaking, boating, fishing and hiking – experiencing freedom and independence. In addition, Pine Tree Camp provides their families with much needed respite.
Since 1945, Pine Tree Camp has welcomed all who could benefit regardless of their ability to pay the $1,900 tuition. All proceeds from the Snowmobile Ride-in will go to Pine Tree Camp’s Campership Fund.
