Welcome to the First Giving page for Chapter VIII of the Police Unity Tour! Chapter VIII was commissioned into the Police Unity Tour in 2003. May 2004 was our first "Ride For Those Who Died" with 14 charter members. Today we have grown to over 250 members. Chapter VIII has members from across the United States and Great Britain. Our current membership and alumni totals over 750 members.

In May 1997, the Police Unity Tour was organized in an effort to bring about public awareness of law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty, to honor their sacrifices and offer a powerful place of healing for survivors by supporting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The premier fundraising event of the Police Unity Tour, a 250-mile bicycle ride, takes place each May 10-12. Chapter VIII rides from Portsmouth Virginia to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial via the Tidewater Trail Route. At 3 pm each May 12, over 1,000 bicyclists and 300 support members converge at the Memorial in an emotional, yet spectacular arrival ceremony witnessed by thousands.

Since 1997, the Police Unity Tour has raised over $10,000,000.00 for the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund. The 2011 Police Unity Tour delivered over $1,750,000.00 to the Memorial Fund. This noble Memorial and the Mission of the Police Unity Tour would not be possible without the hundreds of contributions made by individuals and businesses that so generously support law enforcement officers in their communities.
