We were saddened with the 6 to 2 veto vote of the Synod of the Pacific Permanent Judicial Commission which met in Burlingame, California. The vote overturns the decision of the Redwoods Presbytery Permanent Judicial Commission.
We have appealed their decision to the General Assembly Permanent Judicial commission which is the highest church court in the Presbyterian Church.. We believe the GAPJC will hear our appeal as early as February 2008 and if notthen, April 2008. The GAPJC meets in Louisville Kentucky, the headquarters of the Presbyterian Church, USA.
I am so so grateful to each one of you for your witness for justice and your generous gifts helping us open people's hearts and minds to the equality of LGBT people's rights and rites by honoring our relationships in our faith communities.
It is the faith community which should be the place of hospitality, welcome and support as we express our love to and with one another in marriage, blessing, covenant or Holy Union.
You may want to join us in Louisville as our our wonderful attorneys Sara Taylor and Tim Cahn appeal our case.
Blessings and love to each one of you and thank you with all my heart for your support!!
Love,
Janie
