My personal message:

10/28/08 - We leave in a couple of days.  I guess we're as ready as we'll ever be.  Can't wait to meet the Freedom Team!  We'll have dinner with them while we're there.   Such as awesome and inspiring experience to see these heroes and hear their stories.  This is what it's all about and why we are doing this!  A sincere thank you to all who have helped us out!  We really appreciate it.

10/17/08 - Two weeks from today we will be in New York.  Wow!  Pray for good weather, healthy bodies and fast feet!  :)

10/11/08 - Almost there!   Still running and see the days flying by.  We have a little more to go as far as fundraising so spread the word!  Our fundraiser softball tournament is coming up and we are looking forward to that.  We have to thank the kids for their patience with our time spent running and fundraising.  They did a great job with the car washes!

9/29/08 -

For those who have donated, a disabled vet thanks you. I found myself getting caught up in the mess this weekend with the gas problems and the country’s wonderful financial problems.  It made me laugh. I had to inject a little dose of reality to myself and remember how good we have it.  It’s easy to forget sometimes when TV and life are dominated with the government’s bailout plan, gas prices, college football, Nascar, NFL, MLB, my son’s football team, my daughter’s volleyball, and all my selfish little problems.
“WE ARE A COUNTRY AT WAR”
Remember that today, tomorrow, and for the rest of the week, it is highly likely that a young person is taking a bullet for us so we can whine.

9/24/08 - Less than 6 weeks to go before the race!  We are running 4 times a week.  36 miles total this week.  The long midweek runs are the hardest.  We're already tired, worked all day and face a 9 mile run after work.   Once we get started it's not so bad.  The mornings and evenings are a bit cooler and that helps a lot.  We're trying to juggle the kids football and volleyball games as well as the running.  Life is busy!  Ran 16 miles this past Saturday.  It didn't start hurting real bad until mile 13.  The last few miles were tough but we made it.  We have an 18 mile run coming up this Saturday.  We'll let you know how it goes.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

This isn't about politics.  This isn't about whether or not you support the war.  It's about young men and women who go off to fight for our country (doing their job) and come home with a permanent disability.  They are sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers.  People just like you and me.   We go about our daily lives, complaining about the rising cost of food, gas, ........  Our problems are small compared to the every day struggles they go through living with disability.

We have found a small way to help give back and support these young men and women.

I ran the NYC Marathon last year for the same charity - the Achilles Freedom Team of Disabled Veterans.  I was able to meet many of the veterans who participated in the marathon and was amazed at their spirit!  This is an inspiring group of people who have fought for our country and been wounded.  They have come home and found a way to fight back and keep going in the face of adversity.   I was so inspired that I wanted to do it again and support the Freedom Team once again.  This time I won't be alone.   We will both be running the marathon with the Freedom Team!

Achilles is a worldwide organization, represented in sixty countries.
Our mission
is to enable people with
all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream athletics, to promote personal achievement, enhanced self esteem, and the lowering of barriers between people.

I still don't know how many of our young people came home without arms, legs, faces, fingers, toes, lost jobs, family, friends.

We call these people the lucky ones.

I don't know about you, but they are "My Heroes".

I have pledged that I will continue to run in the Marathon every year that I am physically capable.
