Dr. Mark Rodefeld's Research

Dr. Mark Rodefeld's Research

Dr. Mark Rodefeld has been working on a project to save/improve lives of children born with a single ventricle heart disease. The goal is powerfully simple: convert a single ventricle Fontan circulation to a more stable normal 2-ventricle circulation by replacing the missing pump (right ventricle). Once this device is developed, a child may ultimately need to undergo only one surgery instead of three and would have improved outcomes physically and developmentally.

Your tax-deductible contribution will support:

  1. Advanced component construction
  2. FDA regulatory compliance
  3. Commercialization needs (start-up) to reach the point of equity sustenance
  4. Lead-up to clinical trials (adults first, followed by children)

Dr. Rodefeld has set a goal to raise $100,000 for each of the two following years, consistent with the milestones of the NIH grant. In general a device such as this ultimately requires $30-35 million to reach market. Please help Dr. Rodefeld in this early stage so they can get this product to market, save children's lives, and improve the quality of life for their families.
