Clean Water for Africa

World Vision is actively working in many communities in Africa to provide access to clean water and sanitation for improving lives.   Clean water is often the first initiative World Vision undertakes in a community.   One project World Vision is implementing is the Ethiopia Water and Sanitation Project, also called   "Add Water.   Change Everything."   World Vision is working with their staff and other nongovernmental organizations, with expertise in rural and urban water supply, hygiene education, and sanitation promotion.   The Ethiopia Water and Sanitation Project will improve the health and well-being of 450,000 Ethiopians in numerous community development areas by September 2010.   It is this project that I have chosen to do fundraising for World Vision. 

I was fortunate to travel to Uganda last fall with several people from my church and visit some of the children we sponsor through World Vision.   The image on the left is of me and my sponsored child Juliet.   One activity I've enjoyed for several years now is climbing mountians - mostly in Colorado.    Recently I decided to return to Africa and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.   I thought it perfect to use the climb as a fundraising opportunity for World Vision - specifically supporting the Ethiopia Water and Sanitation Project.  The climb dates are scheduled for August 23rd - 28th, 2009.
