GREETINGS FROM THE CLOT BUSTER!!!
Imagine...
A woman, delighted at the birth of her daughter after months of bedrest and a C-section dies in a wheelchair when going to see her baby for the first time...
An 18 year old college freshman dies during finals week due to complications of a blood clot. The family later learns she had an inherited clotting disorder (factor V Leiden) and that, combined with oral contraceptive use to treat acne, she developed a deadly clot in her kidney vein...
A 24 year old financial advisor thinks he is having an asthma attack and goes to lie down. He never stands again, dying of a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot in the lung...
These are senseless and horrific deaths. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters lost.
But this can be prevented.
On November 7th, I am running the Indianaplois Marathon to raise funds for the National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia (NATT-www.stoptheclot.org). NATT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of blood clots through education, research, support and advocacy.
Also, I am racing on this event to celebrate the launch of the NATThlete Program which looks to incorporate and motivate as many people as possible to get their Polka-dots and become a participant in our campaign to STOP THE CLOT.
Please donate if you can but most importanly pass this message along to all you know interested in helping us spread the word!
