Room to Read's Mission  

Room to Read partners with local communities throughout the developing world to establish schools, libraries, and other educational infrastructure. We seek to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education is a lifelong gift that empowers people to ultimately improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries, and future generations. Through the opportunities that only an education can provide, we strive to break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.

• Choose a program to support
  • Construct a school in Laos, Sri Lanka, Nepal, or Vietnam from $15,000+ (see the "sign-up" at LitLiberation.org for exact costs in specific countries) **
  • Build a library for $10,000
  • Fund a young girl's complete education for $2,500
• Send the link of your page to friends, family, and colleagues - anyone who you think will help you reach your goal!

** Please note schools in Vietnam and Nepal will not be available for construction until 2008. However, you can definitely still raise funds for schools in these countries as long as you don't mind waiting until 2008 for construction to begin.
