Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On August 31st the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department and others will be participating in the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon, benefiting Special Olympics Southern California athletes.
This organization is especially dear to my heart because of my son, Walter Crowder III. Walter was a Special Olympics track and field athlete for 6 years. On top of being a competitive Special Olympics athlete, Walter knew how to touch the spirit of everyone he met. He was warm, friendly and had a great sense of humor.
In 1972, Walter was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and was not expected to live more than two months. Not only did Walter survive, he thrived. Walter's medical condition was so unique, it was used as a case study, allowing him to participate in numerous conferences across the United States. Walter graduated in the top percent of his senior class at North Torrance High School with scholarships and honors. He received his Associates of Arts degree from El Camino College in Speech Communication and was in the process of obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts/Theatre. The joy of his life was his son Randy Crowder. On June 1, 2006, Walter went to be with the Lord.
In honor of my son and former Special Olympics Southern California athlete, Walter Crowder III, I am soliciting your donations for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon on behalf of the County of Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Bureau of Labor Relations and Compliance.
By making a donation through this webpage you will be helping others like Walter, develop physical fitness, social skills and you will help provide them with training and competition opportunities.
Thank you for your donations and support. -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
