My personal message:

***THE PANCAKE BREAKFAST SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 17 HAS BEEN CANCELLED.  I'M SORRY, BUT DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND MY CONTROL IT WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED.  THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR INTEREST AND CONTINUED SUPPORT***

The Cause:
This year, I will be running the P.F. Changs Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 Marathon on behalf of Phoenix Children's Hospital.  Two years ago, I fell into the hands of the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff of Phoenix Children's Hospital.  When I was not quite two years old, I was diagnosed with some serious cardiac defects.  After undergoing some extensive surgery they were remedied.  I lived a healthy life until 2005, whe I was diagnosed with atrial flutter and spent nine days at the hospital.  After a couple of procedures and the care of the doctors, surgeons, nurses, and staff of PCH, I am once again in good health.  Now, it is my time to give back.

As a part of the Miracles in Motion training team, I have been asked to raise funds for PCH.  I have set a fundraising goal of $1500, and I would ask you to help me reach that goal.  Please, partner with me as we help bring care to Arizona's most ill and injured children.

The Patient:
The patient I am running in honor of is sixteen-year-old Sydney.  Sydney has had many surgeries at PCH.  She has had 2 knee surgeries on both knees at the same time and multiple sinus surgeries and a few hospitalizations.  She has recently been diagnosed with Ventricular Tachycardia and has had several tests and a heart cath done in June 2007.  She is on medication for her heart now.  Her family says, "It's all very new to us and kind of scary."  She has just had a procedure done to help determine what exactly is the cause of the Tachycardia.

I recently met Sydney and her mother, and it was a joy.  A sophomore at Sunnyslope, she loves to dance and swim.  Even in the midst of what her health has brought her, she continues to be so joyful.  She's such a sweet girl, and I am so pleased to be running in her honor.
