Greetings to all our Friends, Family & Supporters,
Less than a week!!!
Due to some current news from a good friend we have changed direction with our fundraising goal for this Fall's Portland Run Like Hell Half Marathon on October 25, 2009!!
In late July my friend Josh's dad Keith was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He has just finished his 3rd round of chemo treatments and is staying strong!! Josh has shaved his head in support of his dad so at the very least we can run for him!!
Here is a site if you wish to learn a bit about Keith and his journey thus far...
www.gowoodland.com/keith
In the United States, between 7,500 and 8,000 diagnoses of testicular cancer are made each year. Over his lifetime, a man's risk of testicular cancer is roughly 1 in 250. It is most common among males aged 15–40 years, particularly those in their mid-twenties.
I will be running the 13.1 miles with my brother Kevin, his girlfriend Katelynn and my brother-in-law Ashley to honor Keith and raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. With Lance being both a Dallas native and testicular cancer survivor our choice was an easy one. The Lance Armstrong Foundation believes that in your battle with cancer, knowledge is power and attitude is everything!!
Keith will be facing some challenging hurdles over the next few months as he fights this battle, and he needs to know he is not fighting it alone. So any support we can send his way would be amazing!!
We all have family and friends that have been affected by cancer and know how scary it can be. Cancer teaches us how precious life is and that we should make the most of everyday!!
Live Strong!!
Thank you for your love, caring and generosity. No Donation is TOO SMALL!! Again, many thanks for your support!!
EVERYONE THAT MAKES A DONATION WILL RECEIVE AN OFFICIAL LANCE ARMSTRONG FOUNDATION LIVESTRONG BRACELET!!!
