Greetings from Team Kamelah,
That’s what we are calling ourselves. I can’t speak for each individual on the team, so I thought I’d share a little bit about what I was thinking, and thought maybe you too might want to join us in some form or other.
This is about my niece. A wonderful, precious, sweet, adorable, capable, funny, energetic, trusting, involved, loyal, kind, sweet little girl. A girl I love. A girl I would do anything for. A girl who if you meet her, you would feel the same way. She is awesome!! A piece of art perfected by a Master Designer. Indeed fearfully and wonderfully made as Psalm 139 says. A little over a year ago she was experiencing a lot of abnormal pains and hurts that little girls aren’t supposed to experience. After what seemed like an eternity of not sleeping (for everyone), her not wanting to go to school, constant pain, fatigue, and panic on all of our parts, she was diagnosed with Leukemia. And we found ourselves in a helpless spot that we didn’t want to be in. And, we did not know what to do. All of us that know Kamelah were willing to do anything, but we found ourselves unsure of what to do.
And so I did what I do when I don’t know what to do. I prayed. And running for me happens to be the sweetest times of prayer. And not because I enjoy running. Quite the opposite. I hate it. But while doing it, strange things have happened. I am very aware of my own limitations, of my finiteness, of my humanity, and God’s divinity, infiniteness, and goodness while running. Mostly because I am not a very good runner. My body is not necessarily the type that is designed to run. And I end up realizing who I am, who God is, and find myself begging for His mercy. And I’ve come to understand, that he meets me everytime. And I want some more. I want you to have some too. And I would love for you to lift up and support the girl I love.
And the mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join in praying for Kamelah, running or walking for her, or donating in her name. Help us support the cause of finding a cure for Leukemia and encourage Kamelah in her battle. We would like you to join us..for Kamelah. We would like to see her healed completely. She is midway through a two year chemo plan. This will be good for her, and it will be good for you.
There is something special that happens when we work together, and achieve a common goal. And I cannot think of a finer goal. So, think about joining us. The majority of us are not marathon runners. We are just like you. You can walk, run, pray, or donate. I think it will be fun. We’d love to have you.
There are no group meetings, signups… no pyramid schemes, no pressure, no piety, just joining in spirit.
