For the last couple of years friends Jonathan Jenkins and Cheryl Titcher have run the Marine Corps marathon together.
Last year, due to a back injury, Cheryl couldn't run and Jonathan was forced find some stranger to moan and groan to along the course. Cheryl met up with Jonathan at several locations along the course to give him food, aspirin, ben gay and a kick in the ass when needed to get him running again.
This year, Cheryl's back is fine and she will be running alongside Jonathan as he reminds her yet again, that he hates to run and he has no idea why he is doing this and yells to the crowd that he "needs more cow bell".
Jonathan has promised me that this year he is going to try something new and actually TRAIN for the marathon! (this is the 3rd year in a row that he has made this statement) Although this year he will have the pleasure of training in the heat of the Iraqi sun! (but hey, it's a DRY heat)
Autism effects 1 out of about 150 people in our country and most likely effects someone you know. The daughter of one of Cheryl's closest friends is affected by autism. It is for Katie and everyone else like her that we are once again working to raise funds to battle this ailment.
Half of your donation will go towards autism research with OAR and the other half will be provided to MECA, a non-profit group in
Chester County, PA. MECA provides life-skills to young adults who are diagnosed with autism.
For Jonathan Jenkins, this will be his 6th Marine Corps marathon. Despite a hatred of running, constant whining, and refusal to properly train Jonathan has 4 goals for this year’s marathon:
Raise at least $5K
Finish better then 4:15
Get turned-down by more chicks this year than last
Find more free beer along the course
For Cheryl Titcher, this will be her 4th Marine Corps marathon and 5th marathon overall. Cheryl is a great competitor but complains too much when Jonathan starts his whining and crying. This year Cheryl has 5 goals (yes, I have to one-up Jonathan in the number of goals too!):
Raise at least $5K
Finish better then 4:15
Not to complain about Jonathan's lack of training
Not carry (or drag) Jonathan across the finish line
Beat Jonathan to the finish line (again)
We ask you to please donate what you can to our team and pass this email to all of your friends, family, and co-workers.
