My personal message:
Hello everyone, as most of you already know my name is Sacha Malinbaum. I am a 22 year old college grad who just finished taking the LSAT's. I aspire to go to law school and practice international politics with an emphasis in child adoption law. However, professional school is has taken the back seat to my passion-traveling and doing so for a noteworthy purpose. For the past few years I have been researching organizations that would allow me to fulfill my dreams of one day going abroad to lend humanitarian aid to those in a state of peril. I desired such a trip not only to better myself, but to help those dealing with grave and dire issues that I never had to face. There are many countries that desperately need the resources and manpower we as Americans have. Although I knew working with children is what I wanted to do in a developing nation, I was open to any country available. Nepal, one of the poorest nations in the world, faces child sexual exploitation, human rights abuse, an influx of street orphans, and child laborers. As a volunteer, I hope to accomplish as much as I possibly can in my three months spent there. My volunteer work includes a variety of tasks involving children. Everything from counseling to participating in activities with them. Thanks to UnitedPlanet for the opportunity, I am able to venture beyond my bubble known as the South Bay, and across the world to expand my horizons in ways I never imagined possible.
