ADOPT-A-ROOM TEAM CHALLENGE

Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) invites you to form a team and raise funds for the new Shelter and Resource Center, a 27-bed shelter for victims of domestic violence. Teams will adopt a room at the new shelter and commit to raise at least $5,000 by October 31, 2009.

The SPAN Shelter and Resource Center offers a safe and healing place for individuals who are homeless or in need of confidential shelter as a result of intimate partner violence. The new facility increases SPAN's sheltering capacity by 60%, allowing us to shelter up to 450 individuals each year.

SPAN has raised 75% of the funds needed for the new facility. In October 2008 we launched a Million Dollar Campaign to raise the balance of funds needed for the shelter. The Adopt-a-Room Team Challenge is part of this campaign. Our goal is to raise $200,000 through the Adopt-a-Room Team Challenge by October 2009.

Form a team, and start raising funds today to help us reach our goal!  Invite your friends, family, coworkers - everyone you know - to join your team and help raise $5,000 in support of the new Shelter and Resource Center. Or challenge them to form a team of their own, and compete to see who can raise the most money. The Adopt-a-Room Team Challenge is a fun way to support a critical need in our community - the need for confidential shelter and support services for adults and children who have experienced domestic violence.

Your team may adopt any of the rooms at the shelter. When creating your fundraising page, include information about your choice of room(s) in your personal message (see choices below). Your team also has the option of raising funds without adopting a specific room - all funds raised through the Team Challenge will support the shelter facility.
