This year Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saginaw Bay Area is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser. Our goal is to fill 25 lanes at each of our three venues – that’s 75 teams and 375 bowlers. We hope you’ll choose to help us reach our goal and help Big Brothers Big Sisters fulfill our mission to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth through our mentoring programs.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake is an event where teams of five individuals work together to secure pledges to support Big Brothers Big Sisters. Each bowler has a personal goal of raising at least $75 for a team total of $375. I know that might sound like a lot, but if everyone helps a little, we CAN raise the funds we need to support our life-changing programs for our Littles.
If you and 14 of your friends, family, coworkers, or other contacts gave just $5 each, you would reach your minimum goal and reach 14 people with our message. Think about it. That’s a cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal from Starbucks, or the cost of downloading five songs from iTunes. Could you give that up if it meant you could make a difference in the life of a child – give them a moment of magic that just might change their life? I believe you would and so would those with whom you share our message.
Imagine how that small sacrifice would add up if 375 people in our community stepped up to the challenge and did just the minimum. Then imagine doubling that – wouldn’t that be something to be proud of? I hope you are starting to see the vision we have for the impact your involvement can have in helping to match the youth in our program desperately waiting for a mentor – a friend, who can help them develop into confident, competent and caring individuals and give them hope for the future.
