The ALLY Foundation was established in the memory and spirit of our daughter, sister and friend, Alexandra Nicole Zapp, who was brutally murdered by a repeat sex offender on July 18, 2002. Alexandra, known by her friends as Ally, stopped at a public restroom on her way home from a charity fundraising event. In the restroom she fought desperately for her life against a sexually violent offender the courts had been warned was a potentially lethal predator. Ally's death was a heinous and horrible act of violence that was preventable.
The Mission of The ALLY Foundation is to prevent opportunities for violent sex offenses, to educate the public, and advocate for necessary changes in culture, attitude and policy. We are driving a growing national movement towards better management of sex offenders as we continue to advocate for the most effective ways of reducing victimization in every community. With 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men being sexually abused in their lifetime, a large segment of our society are victims or in danger of becoming victims of sexual abuse. Our goal is to advocate for innovative policies that have the potential to prevent upwards of 50,000 crimes committed by known sex offenders each year!
