"The moral progress of a nation can be judged by the way it treats its animals" -Gandhi
There are many happy, lucky animals in the United States. However, there are some that have not been so lucky...
My oldest dog "Seneca" was put in a cardboard box with his littermates and thrown over a cliff, left to die by a person who I am certain felt no remorse. Luckily, he survived and we have had a wonderful life for 12 years.
While "Paco" has luckily never been to a shelter, if a friend hadn't intercepted that crack addict on the streets of Miami, his life certainly might have been different. The labs will pay up to $500 for a dog. He is my "happy, fat black dog"!
"Aja" , my problem child was brought to a shelter as a small puppy, and they never would tell me exactly what had happened to her. She wasn't really available for adoption, but as anyone who knows me, once I have my mind set, there is no stopping my laws of inertia. Ten years later, she is sweet and loving, although she still has some fears and suffers doggie nightmares sometimes.
Who knows what "Puppy" 's life was like before I found her on the streets as well. As she is blind in one eye, lame in one leg, and missing an ear, I would guess it wasn't a great life for her. Her beautiful spirit, despite her disabilities, has been a source of inspiration to me for 9 years.
I have volunteered for various animal organizations in my life, and am raising money on behalf of the memories of the beautiful animals who deserved a second chance, the ones who need help now, and the ones who will need it tomorrow. I have seen the difference that even the smallest donation can make for an animal, for a shelter.
I have also seen the difference a cold nose and a warm paw can make in the lives of the disabled, sick and dying. Animals give freely and ask for little in return. A quality so rare and badly needed today.
My dogs are older, arthritic, lame and some suffering from hip dysplasia, so we have been "in training" to complete this walk! I am certain that if I could explain to them what we are doing they would respond with enthusiastic support. They always do!
We appreciate your time in hearing my dog's stories and their happy endings. Won't you help an animal have a happy ending too?
On behalf of "my family", thank you for visiting my fundraising page and offering your support in our walk. Please forward this page to anyone that you think may want to make a donation as well.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you prefer not to, please call me and I will make arrangements. No amount is too little, and any amount means so much. Thank you!
